Working on it

Minor update

I haven't got a huge amount done on Fenchurch this past week for various boring reasons. A few more hours of sanding and priming is all. The body shell and a few of the removable panels are very close to the top-coat stage now. I've got Tuesday booked off work so hopefully I'll manage to get it done then. I probably won't get much done after Tuesday because on Friday morning I'll be heading off - by train - up to Glasgow for ConFounding Tales!

Following a discussion on the Morris Minor Owner's Club forum, I bought a Pertronix Ignitor electronic ignition kit. I'm told it's exactly the same as the Aldon Ignitor but cheaper. It doesn't do computerised remapping of the advance curve or anything fancy like that, it simply replaces the mechanical contact breaker (points) and condenser in the standard distributor with a hall effect switch and a ring with four magnets in it. You never need to reset the gap or replace it due to wear, and the manufacturer says you get a more powerful spark (hence a more efficient burn) even with a standard coil because of the cleaner switching profile.
