Hijinks Ensue

Dear Sir, I write this note to you to tell you of me plight...

While in Ireland I bought a Dubliners compilation album called Foggy Dew. Unfortunately the disc was faulty and only the first few tracks played before it started skipping. I've finally found a CD drive (the one in my iBook) that was able to get past the faulty bit and successfully rip the whole thing into iTunes. It's a really good collection and there's a lot of great stuff on it including several songs I'd never heard before.

One of the tracks on it is their version of my granddad's favourite song: The Sick Note. (Warning: NSFW if you work in a place where crying with laughter is frowned upon.)

I know it as Paddy and the bricks and it's been one of my favourites for quite a while too. It used to be played regularly on the morning show on Radio Merseyside while I was at school. It's definitely LOL-fodder.
The version my granddad had was called Murphy and the Bricks.

I suspect he first heard it on Radio Lancashire in the late 80s.

I thought it was Murphy, but was happy to believe that I was mis-remembering it.
